Everyone’s voice matters in uplifting, encouraging and creating a conducive environment for a longer and healthier life. Each of us plays a vital role and need to work together to best help our patients with established NCDs and those at high risk of developing this type of diseases. We need to create guidelines and standards drawn from best scientific evidence for NCD prevention and treatment which are appropriate to the needs of our region.
The Organizing Committee of The Second Non-communicable Diseases (NCD) Congress in the UAE is honored to invite you to attend this educational event which will take coming soon 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The congress is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority. The Congress is organized by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences and is supported by different institutions and organizations including, Emirates Medical Association, American Heart Association, Ministry of Health & Prevention, Dubai Health Authority, Department of Health Abu Dhabi, Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Emirates Cardiac Society, Emirates Diabetes Society, Emirates Oncology Society, Emirates Allergy and Respiratory Society and Regional NCD Alliance.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) 2018 report, NCDs (non-communicable diseases), also known as chronic diseases, which include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory disease, cause 71% of all deaths globally. These conditions share common risk factors including tobacco use, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption and unhealthy diets and also share common solutions, which provide a mutual platform for collaboration and joint advocacy.
In United Arab Emirates, NCDs are estimated to account for 77% of all deaths. Due to this alarming data, the leadership of the Emirates has put the NCD at the top of its strategic plan to reduce local mortality cases. In fact, UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda aims to build a world-class health system in the country, and provide universal health coverage to protect the UAE society from non-communicable diseases.
The role of all concerned associations, civil society and academia to support this vision is also of utmost importance. In 2014, the First NCD Congress in the UAE, organized by the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, received an overwhelming response from the healthcare sector. Following its success, we are preparing the Second NCD Congress.
We are looking forward to your support and involvement and we assure you that your participation in this congress will be a rewarding one.
Sincerely,
Congress Management Committee
